Joshua 1:1–9,
1 After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun,
Moses’ aide: 2 “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get
ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them—to the
Israelites. 3 I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised
Moses. 4 Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river,
the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. 5 No one
will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will
be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. 6 Be strong and
courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their
ancestors to give them. 7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the
law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you
may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your
lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in
it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be
strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God
will be with you wherever you go.”

Change means to make or become different, the act or instance of making or becoming different. Change is external, circumstantial, and situational.

Transition means the process or a period of changing from one state or condition to
another. Transition is internal.

1. Transition Means Termination

Joshua 1:1-6
2 Corinthians 5:17,
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the
new is here!

2. Transition Needs Transmission

Joshua 1:7-8,
7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant
Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be
successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your
lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in
it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Isaiah 31:4,
4 This is what the Lord says to me: “As a lion growls (HAGAH), a great lion over its prey
— and though a whole band of shepherds is called together against it, it is not
frightened by their shouts or disturbed by their clamor—

3. Transitions Need Traction

Joshua 1:9,
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be
discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Hebrews 13:1-5,
Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. 2 Do not forget to show hospitality
to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without
knowing it. 3 Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in
prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering. 4 Marriage
should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the
adulterer and all the sexually immoral. 5 Keep your lives free from the love of
money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave
you; never will I forsake you.”
